Ari Tuckman, PsyD is a psychologist, international presenter, author, and ADHD thought leader. He has given more than 650 presentations and podcast interviews and routinely earns excellent reviews for his ability to make complicated information understandable and useful. He is the author of four books: “ADHD After Dark: Better Sex Life, Better Relationship”, "Understand Your Brain, Get More Done”, “More Attention, Less Deficit” and “Integrative Treatment for Adult ADHD”. He is a co-chair of CHADD’s conference committee and was awarded the 2023 Hall of Fame award for his significant contributions to the field. A popular expert and advocate, he has been widely quoted in national media such as The New York Times, Washington Post, Boston Globe, and Men’s Health. He is in private practice in West Chester, PA.

About the program creators

Dr. G. Parhar has been in family practice for over 30 years, and his clinical practice has focused on the health of patients with severe disabilities and ADHD. His teaching in undergraduate and post-graduate programs includes professionalism, equity, cultural safety, psychosocial aspects of healthcare, and medical disability. Dr. Parhar is a clinical professor in the UBC Faculty of Medicine.

Dr. Anita Parhar is the Educational Director of the Adult ADHD Centre. She is a graduate of the Department of Educational Studies, Faculty of Education, UBC, where she was an instructor for over 15 years, teaching in the programs of Teacher Education and Masters of Educational Administration. Her interests included exploring how Canadian educational practices of families, communities, and schools influence, and are influenced by, social issues — diversity, multiculturalism, and racism — and historical, socio-economic, and political factors.

CADDAC’s Adult ADHD Support Group run virtually on Zoom each month. They are lead by CADDAC-trained facilitators, who are all adults with ADHD. Sessions will allow you to share your story or strategies, and best of all do it with others who understand what it means to be an adult with ADHD.

ADHD and Substance Use Disorder Peer-Led Support Groups

The Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada is launching ADHD and Substance Use Disorder Peer-Led Support Groups in fall 2023, with funding support from Health Canada.

Through these virtual group sessions, participants will receive emotional support and mentorship, critical education about ADHD, and strategies on how to manage some of the core symptoms that have led to substance use.

These groups will be offered in different time zones across Canada and will be peer-led by trained Peer Support Facilitators.

The Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada, is seeking Peer Support Facilitators for our upcoming ADHD and Substance Use Support Groups. As people with lived experience with both ADHD and SUD, the Peer Support Facilitators will support group participants while also gaining meaningful employment experience and opportunities for personal development. Training provided. Must have lived experience with ADHD and Substance Use Disorder.

While those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) can have very fulfilling careers, some individuals with ADHD can face several issues in the workplace. ADHD can have a significant impact on an individual's ability to thrive in the workplace. Difficulty with organization, time management, and social and emotional regulation can lead to challenges in productivity, communication, and collaboration with colleagues. Each individual with ADHD deals with a different set of challenges, therefore it’s important to consider their unique skills and strengths to design ADHD-friendly strategies, accommodations, and modification that can be implemented in the workplace.

This engaging workshop will provide an overview of how employees with ADHD may be impacted at work as well as strategies for managing symptoms and maximizing productivity. Managers and HR Professionals will learn tools and strategies to help unlock the potential of employees with ADHD. Participants will learn best practices on how to support and accommodate neurodiversity in the workplace.

This workshop is designed for Managers and HR Professionals working with people with ADHD. By the end of the workshop, participants will have a deeper understanding of ADHD and how it can impact work performance, as well as practical tools and strategies to ensure employees with ADHD are able to thrive in the workplace.

About the Program Creators

Nathalie Pedicelli is an ICF trained ADHD Organizer Coach combining the knowledge of an ADHD Coach with the experience of a Professional Organizer. She holds a Bachelor of Administration from Concordia University and is a Graduate of the School of Community & Public Affairs. Nathalie is also a speaker whose talks focus on how organization and coaching help people with ADHD live less stressful and more productive lives.

Diagnosed with ADHD at age 44, she started her business, Métamorphoses Organisation, 15 years ago. Nathalie now encourages her clients to understand how their ADHD brain works differently and to adapt their environment to the ADHD way of thinking and doing things. She uses a holistic approach and helps adults with ADHD design systems and create structures that allow them to live with greater freedom and less anxiety.

Nathalie has recently co-designed and facilitates the Adult ADHD Group Coaching program for the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC). Helping clients with ADHD increase their productivity by learning how to use a planner effectively has become her signature work.

Rhiannon Carter is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coach Federation, an Associate ADHD Certified Coach with MentorCoach, a Permanent Professionally Certified Teacher in Alberta, holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary and a Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University.

Rhiannon is an ADHD coach who has over 20 years of experience supporting individuals with ADHD, learning disorders and executive function challenges ranging from preschool through to adulthood. She is founder of Empower You ADHD Coaching, and a passionate advocate for those with ADHD.

Rhiannon specializes in ADHD coaching for adults, teens, post-secondary students and parents. She also supports adult learners as an academic strategist and facilitates group coaching programs for women with ADHD. She spent many years teaching, which has provided her with unique perspectives on how ADHD impacts learning, relationships, and family dynamics across the across the lifespan. Rhiannon also has extensive personal experience with ADHD as she was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and also has two children who are neuro-diverse. Rhiannon’s coaching approach is rooted in positive psychology, but through an ADHD lens. She partners with clients to explore their executive function profile, build awareness around strengths and ADHD impacts. Together coach and client identify and develop goals, create step-by-step plans, build skills and harness strengths so the client achieves success.

Does your child have difficulty focusing? Does your child have difficulty following directions? Does your child have difficulty handling strong emotions? If you said” yes” to one or more of these questions, your child might be having difficulties with executive function. Executive function can impact working memory, flexible thinking and self-control. And, it can affect all aspects of life at school and at home

In this 10-week interactive course, parents and caregivers will learn about executive function, how executive function affects children and teens, and, they will learn tools and strategies to help their children increase these skills.

Through a combination of psychoeducation, self-reflection, role-play, real-life practice and experimentation, participants will gain insight and skills to help their young people be more successful. In between sessions, participants will have an opportunity to practice applying the strategies in their own lives.

About the Program Facilitators

Dr. Megan Smith

Dr. Megan Smith is the creator of the REFOCUS program. She is a school and clinical child psychologist in Toronto, who specializes in Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and related conditions. She has extensive experience providing training and workshops to health and education professionals, as well as community and government organizations across Canada. In addition to the REFOCUS program, Dr. Smith also developed a training program for educators, “ADHD in the Classroom: Supporting Student Success,” for the Geneva Centre for Autism. This program is offered on their Sonderly platform, which is an educational and training platform for professionals seeking to learn more about autism and mental health. Dr. Smith also serves on the Advocacy Committee of the Centre for ADHD Awareness, Canada (CADDAC) and is a committed advocate for children, youth, and families impacted by ADHD. Dr. Smith is a proud member of the ADHD community and parent to two incredible children with ADHD.

Tanya Keto

Tanya has over 25 years of experience working with struggling students and their families as a teacher, a learning strategist, a guidance counsellor, and an educational psychologist. Now as Director of Avery Family and School Psychology Services, she specializes in conducting psychoeducational assessments, including assessing and treating neurodevelopmental disabilities such as ADHD and Learning Disabilities (LD). She is also a sessional university instructor and the University of Calgary, where she teaches about Learning Disabilities as part of the Master of Education program as well as a parent coach for the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada. 

Throughout her career, she has focused on working with individuals with ADHD and Learning Disabilities. She regularly provides coaching, education, and mentorship for educators, caregivers, employers, and specialists around these two neurodevelopmental disabilities. With a unique ability to combine her real-world experiences with professional practice, Tanya approaches her work from a place of empathy, insight, and expertise to set everyone up for success.

9 year old Sam has ADHD and is learning about what that means to him at home, with friends, and at school.
Developed to help children with ADHD, their siblings, friends, classmates, families and teachers learn about about ADHD, join Sam and his big sister Sally who helps Sam understand their common issues with schoolwork, attention regulation, and executive functioning impairments. Sally shares how her ADHD symptoms are alike yet differ from Sam’s. The two siblings also discuss ADHD treatment options and school accommodations and strategies.

9 year old Sam has ADHD and is learning about what that means to him at home, with friends, and at school.
