Krysta is an occupational therapist and the founder of Mindful Mountains and Arbutus Academy. She specializes in ADHD, mental health and chronic pain. Krysta’s desire is to empower individuals to excel through an improved understanding of their brain, nervous system and abilities.

Katie is an occupational therapist living and working in BC. She specializes in mental health and substance use and enjoys connecting with clients to understand their unique circumstance and perspective, in order to best support them in their health journey. She values the opportunity to work with individuals to reach their goals and take part in meaningful activities.

About CADDAC's Presenter

Michela DiStefano is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She is currently completing her clinical placement at the Child, Adolescent, and Family Centre of Ottawa (CAFCO) and she is supervised by Dr. Julie Desjardins. Michela has experience working with a diverse clients base as they face challenges related to anxiety, trauma, mood, behavioural difficulties, parenting, learning, and neurodevelopment (e.g., ADHD, ASD). 

Prior to her placement at CAFCO, Michela worked with children, adolescents and families at the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Psychological Services and Research, and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.

Michela’s doctoral research aims to investigate the influence of parent-child relationships and homework help on children’s math achievement and anxiety towards math.

About CADDAC's Presenter

Alina Kislenkois a Psych Professor (Department of Psychiatry) at McMaster University's Medical School as well as a registered psychotherapist specializing in ADHD, Autism/ASD, and Trauma. In 2009, she founded The ADHD & Asperger’s Centre in Guelph, Ontario when she was 23 years old due to her own recent diagnoses of ADHD and Asperger's and the severe lack of relevant services in the area. She now has the privilege of supervising the talented therapists and coaches at her centre while travelling internationally to do advocacy work towards increasing awareness of ADHD and ASD and creating affordable access to supports. A few years ago, she founded the international not for profit Women Trailblazing, which helps women in poverty build mental health, entrepreneurial, and tech skills.

Heidi Bernhardt, is a psychiatric nurse by training, mother of three grown sons with ADHD and the founder of the Centre for ADHD Awareness Canada (CADDAC), a Canadian charity dedicated to awareness, education, and advocacy for ADHD. Heidi is the past Executive Director of the Canadian ADHD Resource Alliance (CADDRA), a national not-for-profit organization of the leading clinicians and researchers in ADHD in Canada, from 2006 to 2012. During these years she built CADDAC in her volunteer life, nationally incorporating CADDAC as a not-for-profit in 2006 and becoming the Executive Director and President from 2012 to 2019. Heidi currently focuses on  ADHD education material and systemic advocacy while holding the role of Director of Education and Advocacy for CADDAC. She also continues to teach and present on ADHD for CADDAC.
