October is ADHD Awareness Month!

This October, CADDAC is raising awareness about the importance of ADHD treatment.

ADHD is a chronic neurodevelopmental disorder that affects approximately 7%-9% of children, 3%-5% of adults or 1.8 million Canadians. ADHD is highly hereditary and impacts people from all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds. ADHD impairs the brain's executive functioning, which creates challenges in one or more of the following areas: activation, focus, effort, emotion, memory, and action.

Did you know…

  • Research has found that 85% of children continue to show symptoms and functional impairments into adulthood.
  • 85% of employers indicate that ADHD accommodations help retain valued employees, 53% note increased productivity, and 47% state eliminated costs related to training new employees.
  • 19 research studies on ADHD coaching, 89% found that ADHD coaching can lead to statistically significant improvements in ADHD symptoms.
  • In a CADDAC study, 60% of women reported that their ADHD treatment was postponed by 20 years or more due to misdiagnosis.

This year, ADHD Awareness Month is going global! The ADHD Awareness Coalition has partnered up with global ADHD organizations including CADDAC, CHADD, ADHD Europe, ADHD Australia, and Let's Talk ADHD Hong Kong to work together to educate and support people with ADHD around the world. With your help, we can empower everyone with ADHD to live their best lives!

As Canada's only charity exclusively supporting people with ADHD, your generous gifts will help CADDAC help spread awareness about ADHD help individuals and families who are impacted by ADHD.
CADDAC provides low-cost or free ADHD education via webinars, ADHD Group Coaching Programs, Monthly ADHD Support Groups and Parenting Programs to those individuals with ADHD who are struggling.
