Children with ADHD may be four times more likely to experience a traumatic event in their lifetime.
Michela DiStefano is a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. She is currently completing her clinical placement at the Child, Adolescent, and Family Centre of Ottawa (CAFCO) and she is supervised by Dr. Julie Desjardins. Michela has experience working with a diverse clients base as they face challenges related to anxiety, trauma, mood, behavioural difficulties, parenting, learning, and neurodevelopment (e.g., ADHD, ASD).
Prior to her placement at CAFCO, Michela worked with children, adolescents and families at the University of Ottawa’s Centre for Psychological Services and Research, and the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board.
Michela’s doctoral research aims to investigate the influence of parent-child relationships and homework help on children’s math achievement and anxiety towards math.
