Kate's Story

Have you ever felt like you are losing control?

Imagine hitting your mid to late 20s and life begins to hit a little harder. You have more responsibility and there is more happening in your life. You begin to feel like you can't keep up with everyday life. This was a reality for Kate, who was diagnosed with ADHD in 2020 at the age of 31.

Kate ending up having shame spirals and putting pressure on herself to accomplish things that she thought everyone should be able to do. ADHD is an invisible disability that impacts your life in more ways than you can imagine. Left untreated, ADHD can have a devastating effect over the course of ones' lifetime:

- 42.7% of individuals with substance use disorder have ADHD
- 80% of adults with ADHD have at least one co-occurring mental health condition
- A Canadian study found that 1 in 7 adults with ADHD attempted suicide compared to 1 in 37 adults without ADHD
- Those with ADHD earn an average of 16% less than their counterparts

ADHD is a serious mental health condition; however, it can be successfully treated with early intervention and treatment tailored to individual need.
